How to Manually Post Your Students Actual Final Grade Score in Your Blackboard Course and have the Letter Grade Posted Automatically within Your Blackboard Course

1. Go to blackboard.ric.edu and log into our Blackboard account.

  1. Username – i.e. jsmith or jsmith_1234

  2. Password – is your same password that you use to log into your RIC email.

2. Go into your Blackboard course

3. Below the Course Management section on the left-hand side of your course, click “Grade Center > Full Grade Center”.

4. Click “Create Column”.

5. In the Column Name field, enter in Final Grade.

6. Scroll down and make sure that Primary Display is set to “Score”.

 

7. Set the Points Possible to “100”.

8. If you do not want you students to see their Final Grade yet, you can set the Show this column to students to “No”.

9. Click “Submit”.

10. You are back at your Full Grade Center. Use the scroll bar to move over to the far right to view our newly added in column.

11. Back in step 8, I selected “No” so this column is currently hidden from the students. The circle with the line through it letting you know that the column is currently hidden from the students.

12. When you want your students to see this column, hover over the column header, click the down arrow and select “Hide from student (on/off)".

13. Now the column will be seen to the students.

If you want to letter grade to be posted automatically once you have posted the student's final grade score.

14. Hover over “Manage” and then select “Grading Schemas”.

15. Click the down arrow to the right of Letter and then select “Edit”.

16. Rename the Letter to “Final Letter Grade”.

17. Step up your schema score to letter mapping to line up with your department’s letter grading.

18. If you have an extra Less then 60%, click the “Delete Row”.

19. Click “Submit”.

20. Below the Course Management section on the left-hand side of your course, click “Grade Center > Full Grade Center”.

21. Click “Weighted Column”.

22. In the Column Name field, enter in Final Letter Grade.

23. For Primary Display, click the down arrow and select “Final Letter Grade”.

24. Scroll down to the Select Column section.

25. Select “Final Grade” and then click the right arrow.

 

26. Enter in “100”.

27. Select “No” for Show this column to students.

28. Click “Submit”.

29. Scroll over to the far right to see your newly added in column which is currently hidden from the students.

30. Again, when you want your students to see the column, hover over the column header, click the down arrow and then select “Hide from student (on/off).

31. Column is now visible to students.

Entering in Final Grade

32. Click in cell below the Final Grade column and enter in student’s final grade score and press the Enter key.

33. You should the student’s final score and the final letter grade.

34. Repeat steps 32-33 enter in the rest of your students’ final grade score.
