Grading using a Rubric for your Assessments & Discussions

This article will show you how you can grade your assessments and discussions which are associated with a rubric.

After a rubric has been associated with an assignment or discussion, you can use it for grading.

1. Within the grading window, click the arrow to the right of the student's submission to open the feedback panel:

2. Click the arrow next to “Grading Rubric” to expand rubric items:

3. Click the check box next to “Show descriptions” if you would like to see item descriptions below each criterion while you grade the assignment:

4. Select an item below each criterion to assign a score for that criterion:

5. To leave comments for specific areas of the rubric, click the "Add feedback" button to the right of each criterion:

6. Type your feedback into the comment box. Click the feedback button again to save your comments while you type.

7. To edit an existing comment, click the pencil icon in the corner of the feedback box:

8. Unless the assignment is set up to post grades automatically, students will not see their grades until you post them. To post a student's grade, click the ellipsis to the right of "Final Grade" and select "Post grade":
