Collecting Submissions Offline

Summary

you can create assessments that appear on the Course Content page but don't require students to upload submissions. You can add instructions, files, a rubric, and goals so students can prepare for the offline work. This article will who you how to create this type of assessment.

1. When creating a new assignment, click gear icon to the right of "Assignment Settings":

2. Under “Details & Information”, click the checkbox next to “Collect submissions offline”:

Below the Details & Information, the Collect submission offline options is being select with the left checkbox is in solid green with a black checkmark in the center. The option also has a red border around it which indicates that you will be turning on this option.

3. Click “Save” at the bottom of the Assignment Settings window:

4. By default, the assignment will be hidden from students. Customize the visibility settings in the dropdown menu in the top right corner:

Within the visibility settings dropdown menu, the Hidden from students is beings selected. The other options showing are Visible to students and Release conditions.

When students open the assignment, Blackboard will inform them that the instructor will be collecting submissions offline, but their grade will still be accessible online:
