Publishing a Respondus Test into Bb Course

Summary

This article will show you how to import a respondus test into a question bank within your Bb Ultra course.

Once you have created your test or quiz, you can then publish it into a new Question Bank within your Blackboard Ultra course. Follow these steps to publish your file:

Step 1 Publish Test to Question Bank

1. Click “Preview + Publish”.

2. Click “Publish”.

3. Click “Publish Wizard”.

4. Select either Publish to single courseBatch Publish to multiple courses, or Save pool to local file for manual uploading. For this example, we will publish to a single course. 

In the Publish Wizard window, the Publish to single course is being selected for step 1.

5. Choose your server. If you have not set up a server yet, choose add new server. Here is how to set up a new server: 

The red border is surrounding the Blackboard server and the add new server is being selected.

6. Select No, I want to enter the server settings manually and then click Next

In the add new Server Settings window, the No, I want to enter the server settings manually is turned on. The next button at the bottom of the window has a blue border around it indicating you will be clicking on it.

7. Go to the Internet, go to the Blackboard  Login Screen, copy the URL, and paste it in Section 1 of the Server Information Window

The the browser url field the https://blackboard.ric.edu was entered in.

For step 1, the https://blackboard. ric.edu/ will automatically be populated in the text field.

8. Open up your course, go to the main page (the page with the Control Panel), copy the URL, and paste it in Section 2 of the Server Information Window

The URL of your course will automatically be displayed in the step 2 text field.

9. In Section 3 of the Server Information Window, click Extract..

10. For the Login page, please delete out what is currently displaying and type in https://blackboard.ric.edu/.

11. Give a name to your server, and then fill out your Blackboard 9 Username and Password. You have the option of letting Respondus remember your username and password.

12. Click OK.

13. Once the server is set up, click Next

14. In Section 1 of the Publish Wizard Window, choose your course from the drop-down menu. 

Below step 1 Choose Course to publish to, select the course.

15. In Section 2 of the Publish Wizard Window, choose Create new Pool and then click Next.

16. Click Finish.

Once you see Complete successfully you will be clicking the next button located at the bottom of the window.


Step 2 Adding the Question Bank Questions to New Test

You can now create a test and reuse the question from the question bank that you just imported into your Bb Ultra course. 

1. You will need to decide where you want to deploy the new test. You can either place it on the Course Content page or within a Learning Module or Folder. (Note: If you will need to expand the Learning Module or Folder first.)

2. Hover your cursor over the area where you want to add the file and click the (+) icon.

3. Select “Create” from the dropdown menu:

4. Below the Assessment section, click Test.

5. Enter in a name for your test.

6. Click the purple plus sign.

7. Click Reuse questions.

8. Select the question bank containing your questions.

9. Click Select all.

10. Click Copy Questions.

11. Change the points to each question to equal up the total max points for the test and then click Save.

12. Click the gear icon to open up the Test.

13. When you are done with the test settings, click Save at the bottom of the panel.

14. Either select Visible to students (if you want the test to be available to the students now) or select Release conditions (if you want to release the test to the students on a specific day and time).

The Hidden from students is being selected.
