Accessing RICNET Staging Environment

This guideline illustrates how to perform testing of PeopleSoft’s new features and performance through our RICNET Staging environment. This requires:

  1. an account and password, provided by the ITS Help Center, for the RICNET environment.
  2. remote access to a virtual desktop in the RICNET environment via Splashtop 

 

Your RICNET account

  • Your account name in RICNET is the same your account name in RICEDU
    Example: RICEDU\jdoe_1234 would be RICNET\jdoe_1234.
  • The password for your RICNET account is different.
  • Your RICNET password is sent in a separate secure email with the subject line: Password for your RICNET account.
  • You must use this username and password to sign in to a RICNET virtual desktop.

You may find information on how to download, install, and run Splashtop on this Knowledge Base Article from TeamDynamix (TDX), RIC’s technical support ticketing system:

Start by following the steps under Quick Start.  Once complete, follow the steps in the Login to Splashtop Business App and Web App.

  • After you sign in to Splashtop (Web or App), you will see a group of five (5) computer names:

NET-WS101-ESX through NET-WS105-ESX

  • First screenshot shows these names in the Web browser version; the second screenshot shows them in the App.
  • The icon in front of the name shows the status of the virtual desktop:
    • The icon labeled (1) in the screenshots indicates that the virtual desktop is available and not in use.
    • The icon (2) indicates that someone else is already using this virtual desktop.
  • You can select one of the “available and not in use” virtual desktops

  • Use this link to sign into MyRIC to begin testing:

  • Note: this link ONLY works from within the RICNET Staging Environment.
  • Make sure you are in the Staging system by checking for the text “EPSTG25” on the login page as seen below:

  • IMPORTANT: Always sign out of the virtual desktop and Splashtop. Not doing so will prevent everyone else from using that virtual desktop
