Adding a Manual Gradable Item (Column)

1. Navigate to the course Gradebook:

2. Click Grid view icon.

The left red arrow is pointing to the Grid view icon which looks like a small box with four smaller boxes in the center of it.

3. Hover next to the top of the column header of the where you would like to add an item and click the purple plus sign.

The upward red arrow is pointing on the column boarder so that the magenta circle with the white plus sign appears.

4. Select “Add Item” from the dropdown menu:

5. Type a title for your item into the header of the panel that opens to the right.

The title of the test is labeled Exam 1 which has a red border around it to highlight the title.

6. By default, the item will be hidden from students. You may adjust the visibility settings in the drop down menu below the title:

From visibility settings drop down menu, the Hidden from students option is currently being selected. The other option is Visible to students.

7. Set a due date below the visibility settings:

The item due date is set to 10/29/23 and time is set to 11:59 PM.

8. Below “Grading”, specify whether you would like grades to reflect as letters, point values, percentages, or completion.

For the grading using option, it is set to Points which has a red border around it to highlight that this is the option to select. The other options are Letter, Percentage and Complete/Incomplete.

9. Enter the maximum point value (required) and set the grading category from the dropdown menu below:

The maximum points is set to 100 and the grade category is set to Exam.

10. Click “Save” to add the gradable item as a column in the gradebook:
