Kaltura: Creating A Kaltura Express Capture Video

Introduction 

Kaltura Express Capture lets you record content directly from the browser without the need to install any additional software. A new Big Red Button has been added to Kaltura Express Capture to enable you to add content from your Webcam Recorder to Blackboard. The Kaltura recorder allows you to use your webcam or audio devices to record video and audio entries directly from your browser. 

1. You can create an Express Capture recording from the Tools options in your Blackboard main course page.

Select Express Capture from the Add New drop-down menu.

2. Screen Share Settings

The default settings for recording is your computer webcam and microphone. You can also choose to screen share by clicking on the drop down menu. This will allow you to share your video as well as your screen. You can also choose to just share your screen in these settings (see image below).

3. You can also choose to turn your camera off and just record your screen by toggling off the camera (see image below).

4. The screen shot below shows what your recording will look like when you are finished recording. You will see your image on one side of the screen and the computer screen you've shared on the other. From this screen, you will have the option to save or "use" the video. Clicking on "use this" will add the video to your Kaltura My Media collection. From your My Media, you will be able upload the video into your Blackboard course. You also have the option to record the video again right there on the screen if you are not happy with the results (see options in the screen shot below).

5. When you click on "use this" you will come to the next screen where you can add in your description and any tags you want to add in for searching purposes.

6. The video will save to your Kaltura - My Media page after uploading is complete. From here you can go into your course and upload the Express Capture video as you would a normal Kaltura video.
