Creating a Randomly Assign New Group Set

Click Groups in the top navigation.

In the course top navigation, the right red arrow is pointing to the Group tab.

Click New Group Set.

In the top right-hand corner, the right red arrow is pointing to the New Group Set option.

 Highlight the default text and enter in a descriptive name for your group set.

The left red arrow is pointing to the blue box with the white text New Group Set 10/6/23.

For example

How would you like the students be added to the one of the groups within the group set.

Custom - The instructor adds students to a group within the group set.

Randomly assign - Students are randomly added to one of the groups within the group set.

Self-enrollment - Students will have the ability to add themselves to one of the groups within the group set.

Click the down arrow and select Randomly assign.

Click the down arrow and decide on how many number of groups you want.

The groups are automatically created and the students are randomly placed in one of the groups. 

The three groups New Group 1, New Group 2 and New Group 3 are created and the students have been added to them.

(NOTE) You have the ability to move a student to a different group by clicking the three dots associated with the student and then click on the group you want to move the student to.

Once all fo the students have been added to one of the groups, click Save

Two buttons with the word Cancel in the gray box and the word Save in the black box. The Save button has a downward red arrow pointing to it to indicatie that this is the button to click.

The group set containing your custom groups has been created.

The Groups tab is being selected and the Group Project Presentation is being displayed with Hidden from students at the moment.

By default, the group set will be hidden from students which means they will not be able to access their group. Select Visible to Students when you want your students to be able to access these group.
