Introduction
This article provides instructions on installing and licensing IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0.0.2 on Macintosh computers.
Requirements
The following requirements must be met for a successful install of IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0.0.2.
1. A RIC managed/owned Macintosh computer.
2. Apple macOS 10.12 "Monterey" or later. Apple macOS 13 "Ventura" or later preferred.
3. Internet access, through a wired/ethernet or wi-fi connection.
4. A service request to the ITS Help Center requesting SPSS be made available to the computer it is to be installed upon.
5. An activation code (sent by the ITS Help Center via e-mail)
In the future, licensing may switch to being handled by a licensing server.
Procedure
1. Once approval has been provided for access to IBM SPSS Statistics, it will be made available in the Self Service application, which is installed on all RIC managed/owned Macintosh computers. Self Service is located in the Applications folder. Open the Self Service application, and in the left menu, navigate to the Software: Scientific and Research section.
2. In this category, select the Install button below the IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0.2.0 application. A description of the software will be shown first. Then select Install again to begin the installation.
3. It will take several minutes to download and install IBM SPSS Statistics onto the computer. During this process, a small icon will show that activity is in progress inside of the Self Service application. A notification window may also open towards the top right of the computers display indicating the installation is underway.
4. When the installation is completed, a notification sound is made, and the Install icon changes to Reinstall. In addition, a notification window may be displayed indicating the installation is completed.
5. On the Macintosh's primary storage volume (Macintosh HD), navigate to Applications > IBM SPSS Statistics > SPSS Statistics. Open/launch the SPSS Statistics application.
6. A licensing notification will appear at first launch. Select Launch License Wizard to continue.
7. In the Product Authorization window, select Authorized User License... and then select Next.
8. Enter the authorization code provided to you to by the ITS Help Center to complete the registration of the IBM SPSS Statistics software, then select Add. Then select Next.
9. A check over the Internet will be run to verify the authorization code. Once the check is completed, IBM SPSS Statistics will then be successfully authorized and functional going forward. The authorization process may need to be completed in the future when the license is renewed by Rhode Island College.
