Write Questions Offline in a Text File and Upload it into a Test

Example of how certain questions should be formatted in a text file.

Create your tab-delimited TXT file

1. Open up MS Excel.

2. Following the question format guidelines in the above table, you need to add in the questions. (For example)

3. Click File > Save As

4. Select on where you want to save your file.

5. Click within the Save as type box.

6. Select Text (Tab delimited).

7. Enter in a name for the file name and then click Save.

8. Go into your new Blackboard course.

9. Decide on where you want to create and deploy the test and then click on the plus sign.

10. Click Create.

11. Click Test.

12. Hover over the temporary name, click the pencil icon, type in the name for your test and then click the Enter key (Windows) or Return key (MAC) on your keyboard.

13. Click the plus sign.

14. Click Upload questions from file.

15. Select your TXT (tab-delimited) file and then click Open.

16. The questions have now been uploaded into the test.

17. You can make any changes to the each of the questions, such as changing the max points, by clicking the three dots and selecting Edit. (Note: If you do make any changes to the question, please make sure that you click Save at the bottom of the question.)

18. Setup the test (assessment) settings.

19. Select if you students see the test now or at a specific date and time.

20. When you close out the test, you will see the new test deployed on the course content page.
