What’s New for Fall 2019
Kaltura Storage
Kaltura has made changes to our storage capacity. We now have unlimited storage. There are, however, some restrictions …
As of July 1, 2019 the Kaltura Media Retention Guidelines have changed:
''If a media file has not been called for playback for more than twenty-four (24) consecutive months then all playable copies derived from your original file will be deleted; the original file will be left intact. Any multimedia file that is not called for playback for forty-eight (48) consecutive months will be deleted from the system including your original file.
What does this really mean?
Simply put, as long as your files are played within a two year window they are left on the system. After two years passes, Kaltura will automatically delete the playable files BUT leaving the original in the system. If the file has still not been played by the 48 month mark they will automatically be deleted.
Best Practice
Simply put, Kaltura is not storage for your files, Make sure you save anything of importance locally. Kaltura is for displaying files and not long term storage,
