About Kaltura Media Gallery
The Kaltura Media Gallery is a centralized library of videos and other media content for a particular course, visible to all instructors and students within that course. Instructors add media from their My Media account.
Here are some key features and functionality:
- Centralized Storage: The Media Gallery is a central location where all course-related media can be stored, organized, and shared.
- Playlist Creation: Media Gallery managers (course instructors) can create playlists to curate, organize, and categorize featured content. These playlists can be embedded anywhere in the course where you would normally place a single media file.
- Content Display: Items in the Media Gallery can be displayed in different views, such as Grid, Detailed, or Collapsed.
NOTE: The Kaltura Media Gallery is always visible to students. Students can use the Media Gallery only if instructors elect to publish media to the course Media Gallery. The Media Gallery does not necessarily include all media available within the course. The Media Gallery only contains content that was deliberately published to the gallery.
Table of Contents
There are two basic approaches to using the Media Gallery:
- Instructors can use it as a tool to create playlists without providing direct access to students.
- Alternatively, instructors can add the Media Gallery to the Course Content page to organize media.
There are two methods to access the Kaltura Media Gallery:
Blackboard Details & Actions Menu: Students can access the Media Gallery via the Blackboard Details & Actions menu on the right side of the page. Clicking the Books & Tools menu will open the Books & Course Tools menu. Selecting the Kaltura Media Gallery menu item will bring the user to the Media Gallery.
Student View
Course Content Page: Alternatively, instructors can place the Media Gallery directly on the Course Content page for students. Clicking on the + icon will add the Media Gallery to the Course Content page.
Faculty View
NOTE: Students will always have access to the Media Gallery, even if the instructor doesn’t publish media to the gallery. It will simply present an empty gallery.
If you choose to publish
The Media Gallery can be opened by students using the Details & Actions menu and selecting the Book & Tools menu option …

NOTE: Uploading media to the Media Gallery will also add it to your My Media. This means that it can be used in any of your courses going forward.
Instructors can delete media from the Media Gallery by clicking on the 3-dot menu of each media item. This will make the Remove from channel option appear. Clicking on the X will delete the selected video from the Media Gallery but it will remain in your My Media.
